Koh Samet - Trat

"A lazy mans yoga....."

sunny 35 °C

We ended up staying in Koh Samet for 5 nights. The most energetic activities included hiring a kayak to discover another beach, riding through the night in the back of a songthaeuw (A pick-up truck with seats in the back) and getting an hour long thai massage.

Thai massage: "A lazy mans yoga"... as a beginner in the art of recieving massages (Han knew the ropes) I was strangely apprehensive...a whole Hour (?!) just seemed a long time to lie down and be rubbed for. Oh no.. It's not rubbing..it's pummelling, kneading, stretching and squashing...at one point this very adept thai lady was crawling along my back on her knees!! By the end of a what I thought a very quick hour which had actually been an hour and a half, I felt like i could be roll up and fit in my rucksack. Han informed that this is not how it is done in Blighty.

We left Koh Samet by speed boat and took a minibus to Trat on Tuesday morning.

We are staying in a great guesthouse in Trat named Ban Jaidee. It the kind of place where people linger, putting off the next move on as it has a communal area where you can swing in the hammock chat to the other guests and go to the fridge whenever you fancy a drink...like home but with a hammock! Unfortunately Han has been ill due to the malaria medication (since we changed to another type she has been a lot better) so we have ended up staying for four nights before we move on to meet Kate (sis) and Rich in Cambodia in the morning.
